How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Before I started planning for the eventual production of all my ancillaries, I researched into each of them individually from real media texts to understand the conventions which they followed, from which I discovered the significance of the interconnection of all of them to the main product - being our trailer. The linking of all the means of advertisement for our film 'The Suppressed' so to promote them by cross media convergence.

My Final Poster
Final Magazine Front Cover

Transcript: How do they all link back to the main product and to each other as well?
My magazine front cover and my poster do in fact not link particularly to the full extent of what they could because of the need to follow the conventions of an Empire Magazine Front Cover where they always follow a mid-shot portrait of the primary main character from the film that it features as discovered from my magazine research. The traits of these Empire products therefore do not always theme themselves around the same as their other advertisements. Therefore, to interweave the theme of the film of the trailer, I strategically chose to capture a photo of Clary positioned the same as during the portrait psychic break scene, which is significant to the narrative and constant with the motif of postmodernism 'what is the truth,' questioning of which two options of the forking-path we present in the trailer is actually reality.
The colour scheme
In regards to the scheme of colour the Poster uses a dark blue background colour taken from the title of the trailers drop shadow and also from the credits as well which have the projected blue because it portrays endless possibilities in which it hones in on the blue association with the sea which ties in with the trailer of the forking-paths of potentiality of her identity being many things… a Dunamis or a mentally ill patient and nothing more. Significantly to the blue is reminiscing once again on its comic book origins and its bold primary colours.
Whereas, the magazine front cover I did differently by linking the poster and magazine together by using the eye dropper tool on Photoshop to drop the red colour of the projected red glow from the energy ball from the poster for the shape contained tilted box at the bottom and the projected shadow of Clary the main protagonist on the Magazine Front Cover. Here by the consumers will be able to recognise it for being the advertisement for the same film.
The Title
All my ancillaries greatly compliment because of the same utilisation of cloned title from our trailer, this was due to when analysing film products people were able to cross reference all easily due to the familiar sight of the same title which becomes unique to its film. For example, this is substantially evident in Harry Potter’s title with the lightning bolt P. Our jagged and somewhat misbehaving title is also representing of another motif of mentality of the question of the stable mind of Clary. The title embodies the representation of the discombobulation of the main protagonist and her lack of clarity to distinguish whether if something is actually reality of powers and there by being suppressed by Censor or merely is really ill.
Once again the yellow colour for the title which is the most dominant colour used by myself became a striking colour which seemed fitting seeming it was the colour mainly used for the speech bubbles of comic books which are usually the items that the comic artists wanted to ‘pop’ to draw attention to the speech so the narrative was understood but also because its symbolic nature of godliness with its association of heaven directly honing in the perception of how superheroes are seen as Gods.
The Billing Block
This is a convention that provides the consumers with information about the appearances of actors, actresses and mainly contributors of the film which by having appearance of this convention from the trailer on the poster to would be so that people who may recognise one advertisement product or the trailer will be able to differentiate from the credit of names that it is from the film before them.
The Trailer
The trailer’s final slide details information which links nearly to all ancillaries with the website and the social media links.

Inclusive within the poster can be located the official website for our movie which will lead them to the other ancillary (the Suppressed Website) - linking them together. This cross media convergence means that any advertisement for the film will be tracked by Web 3.0, so any consumers viewing our social media pages or website will be essentially adding ‘cookies’ which would directly give these consumers advertisement of the film whether if they were on other online websites.
This in turn will most likely encourage them to watch our trailer which is displayed on the Suppressed homepage or may come up on other pages seeming that it is published via YouTube; consequently, this higher exposure gained as a result of this Web 3.0 will give us a greater chance of people viewing it when it premieres of the weekend – boosting our revenues as much as possible.
To link my products together I imposed the conventions like; the title, colour scheme, and tagline for example to be cloned, the exact same in other words for both the poster, website and magazine front cover.
